コートヤードHIROOとgallery ayatsumugiは、はまぐち さくらこ、石澤英子の二人展を開催いたします。
私たちは、一つの役割や一つの言葉だけでは語りきれない存在です。
家庭では誰かの家族であり、仕事では専門家として振る舞い、ときには社会から「女性」「アーティスト」「現代アート作家」といった肩書きを与えられます。しかし、そのどれもが、その人のすべてではありません。
心の内には相反する感情や価値観が共存し、社会のなかで求められる役割とのあいだを揺れ動きながら、私たちは日々を生きています。その揺らぎは、矛盾や未完成さではなく、一人ひとりの固有性を形づくるものです。
創造とは、新しいものを生み出すことだけではありません。既存の価値観や自分自身の輪郭を問い直し、ときに壊しながら、新たな自分へと変化していく営みでもあります。それは作品だけではなく、創り手であるアーティスト自身のアイデンティティにも起き続けています。
本展「わたしたちの複数形」では、はまぐちさくらこと石澤英子、それぞれ異なる表現を続ける二人の作品を通して、人が本来もつ複雑さと、その豊かさに目を向けます。
作品を前にしたとき、そこに映し出されるのは作家だけではありません。鑑賞者自身のなかにも存在する、言葉にならない感情や、いくつもの「わたし」の姿かもしれません。
この展覧会が、一人ひとりの内側にある複数の声に耳を澄ませ、自分らしさとは何かを見つめ直す機会となれば幸いです。
Courtyard HIROO and gallery ayatsumugi are pleased to present a two-person exhibition featuring Sakurako Hamaguchi and Eiko Ishizawa.
We are not beings that can be fully defined by a single role or a single word.
Within our families, we are someone’s family member; at work, we may act as professionals; and at times, society assigns us labels such as “woman,” “artist,” or “contemporary artist.” Yet none of these identities alone encompasses the entirety of who we are.
Conflicting emotions and values coexist within us, and we navigate our daily lives while moving between our inner selves and the roles expected of us by society. This fluctuation is not a contradiction or a sign of incompleteness, but rather something that shapes the individuality of each person.
Creation is not simply about producing something new. It can also be a process of questioning—and at times dismantling—existing values and the boundaries of one’s own identity, allowing oneself to transform into someone new. This process takes place not only in works of art, but also continually within the identities of the artists who create them.
Through the works of two artists who each pursue distinct forms of expression, Sakurako Hamaguchi and Eiko Ishizawa, the exhibition Our Plural Selves turns its attention to the inherent complexity of human beings and the richness found within it.
When standing before the works, what we see reflected may not be the artists alone. We may also encounter emotions within ourselves that cannot easily be put into words, as well as the many different versions of “I” that exist within each of us.
We hope this exhibition will offer an opportunity to listen closely to the multiple voices within ourselves and to reflect anew on what it means to be true to oneself.
作家プロフィール
はまぐち さくらこ
1981年、京都生まれ。香川県在住。
京都嵯峨美術大学現代絵画コース卒業。
子どもの頃の感覚—揺れ、不安、夢、孤独、安心—が感情とイメージのまま溶け合う「生」の感覚を、鮮やかな色彩と具象・抽象を行き来するイメージで描き出す。アウトサイダー・アートやサブカルチャー、神話などに親しんできた経験をもとに、個人的な記憶や感情から出発しながら、時に神話的・宇宙的な広がりへと接続していく世界を描いている。主な展覧会歴に2010年「絵画の庭—ゼロ年代日本の地平から—」大阪国立国際美術館、2014年「オバケとパンツとお星さま」東京都現代美術館。主な受賞歴にGEISAI 金賞および奈良美智賞、美術出版社みづゑ賞絵本部門大賞。2025年、川上弘美による読売新聞連載小説「スナックふたり」の挿絵を担当。絵本作家としても活躍中。

石澤 英子
1981年、奈良県生まれ。
2000〜2025年はアムステルダム、現在は出雲とアムステルダムを拠点に活動。ヘリット・リートフェルト・アカデミー学士課程修了、サンドバーグ・インスティテュート修士課程修了。
自然や日常、異文化間での生活経験をもとに、素材・形・アイデアの間にある緊張と調和を探求する。彫刻、インスタレーション、コラージュ、テキスタイルなど多様な手法を用い、直感と偶然性を重視した制作を通して、見る者に先入観にとらわれない自由な視点を促す作品を制作している。主な展覧会歴に、2025年「こちらに太陽が昇るということは、そちらで太陽が沈むということ 石澤英子展」小山市立車屋美術館、2022年「31553580 (obsessie) voor nummers & schema’s（数字と図式への執着）」ミュージアム・ファン・デ・ヘースト／エルミタージュ・アムステルダム、2020年「VOCA展」。2021年、美術手帖『2020年代を切り拓くニューカマー・アーティスト100』に選出・掲載。
