コートヤードHIROOとgallery ayatsumugiは、9月5日から9月26日までの期間中、はまぐち さくらこ、石澤英子によるOUR PLURAL SELVES 「わたしたちの複数形」を開催いたしました。
From September 5 to September 26, Courtyard HIROO and gallery ayatsumugi hosted the exhibition “OUR PLURAL SELVES: ‘Our Plural Form’” by Sakurako Hamaguchi and Eiko Ishizawa.

We are beings who cannot be fully defined by a single role or a single word.
At home, we are part of a family; at work, we act as professionals; and at times, society bestows upon us titles such as “woman,” “artist,” or “contemporary artist.” Yet none of these defines us entirely.
We live our daily lives with conflicting emotions and values coexisting within us, oscillating between those and the roles society expects of us. This oscillation is not a contradiction or a state of incompleteness; rather, it is what shapes each person’s unique identity.
Creation is not merely about producing something new. It is also a process of transforming into a new self by reexamining—and at times dismantling—existing values and the contours of one’s own identity. This process continues not only in the artwork but also within the identity of the artist as the creator.
In this exhibition, “Our Plural Forms,” through the works of Sakura Hamaguchi (Eiko Ishizawa)—two artists who each pursue distinct forms of expression—we turn our attention to the inherent complexity and richness of the human condition.
When standing before these works, it is not only the artists who are reflected there. It may also be the ineffable emotions and the many facets of “myself” that exist within the viewers themselves.
We hope this exhibition will serve as an opportunity for each of you to listen closely to the multiple voices within yourselves and to reexamine what it means to be true to yourself.
