今回は、コートヤードHIROOガロウで、写真展「静かに残っている。」を開催した冨樫幸太郎さんにインタビューをしました。
写真家を目指したきっかけや、富山の魅力、今後の展望についてお聞きしました。
This time, we interviewed Kotaro Togashi, who held the photo exhibition “Quietly Remaining” at Courtyard HIROO Garou.
We asked him about what inspired him to become a photographer, the appeal of Toyama, and his future plans.
Q. 自己紹介をお願いします。
Please introduce yourself.
A. 富山県上市町出身の冨樫幸太郎です。
高校を卒業して、東京都と富山の2拠点で生活しています。
My name is Kotaro Togashi, and I’m from Kamiichi Town in Toyama Prefecture.
Since graduating from high school, I’ve been living between Tokyo and Toyama.
Q. 写真家を目指したきっかけは何ですか？
What inspired you to become a photographer?
A. 中学の終わりごろにSDGsのフォトコンテストで全国で1位になったことがきっかけです。
それ以降、高校で写真部を立ち上げ、部長をしながら様々なフォトコンテストに応募し、13回賞を取り、現在に至ります。
It all started when I won first place nationwide in an SDGs photo contest toward the end of middle school.
Since then, I founded the photography club in high school, served as its president, entered various photo contests, won 13 awards, and have continued on this path to the present day.
Q. なぜ富山を撮り続けるのですか？
Why do you keep photographing Toyama?
A. 富山には立山をはじめとする自然と、そこで生活する人がいて、その富山でしか撮れないものや、自然と生活感の共存する世界観を撮りたいからです。
Toyama is home to natural landscapes like Mount Tateyama and the people who live there, and I want to capture the unique scenes that can only be found in Toyama—a world where nature and everyday life coexist.
Q. 富山でしか撮れないものは何ですか？
What can you only photograph in Toyama?
A. 一瞬で変わる自然の表情や、初雪だったり土砂崩れだったり、そのような田舎らしい風景です。
It’s the kind of rural scenery where nature’s mood changes in an instant—whether it’s the first snowfall or a landslide.
Q. 写真の魅力は何だと思いますか？
What do you think is the appeal of photography?
A. 自分の見たままを、そのまま風景で残せるところです。
青空や夕焼け空や海などを、すぐに人に見せることができたり、展示を通して残せる、そしてまた次の人に届くというサイクルがある点も好きです。
It’s a place where I can capture exactly what I see in the form of a landscape.
I also love the fact that I can immediately share the blue sky, sunset skies, and the ocean with others, preserve them through exhibitions, and create a cycle where they reach the next person.
Q. 富山を離れて気づいた地元の良さは何ですか？
What did you realize about the charm of your hometown after leaving Toyama?
A. 富山と東京の2拠点で生活してみて、富山は田んぼや畑など自然が多くあり、東京はビル群などコンクリートの世界だと感じました。
富山でしか撮れない、人の温かさや立山連峰や街になっている果実など、そのようなものを撮れるのは富山だけだと思うので、そこが地元の良さです。
Having lived in both Toyama and Tokyo, I felt that Toyama is rich in nature, with rice paddies and fields, while Tokyo is a concrete jungle of skyscrapers.
I believe that Toyama is the only place where I can capture the warmth of its people, the Tateyama Mountain Range, and the fruit that grows right in the city—things that can only be found there. That’s what makes living here so special.
Q. 最後に今後の展望を教えてください。
Finally, could you tell us about your future plans?
A. 現在は富山県以外でも写真展や設営をしていますが、どこにいても自分の拠点は富山県上市町だと思っています。
今後は、まずは日本の地方など、東京以外の場所でも個展や写真展を開催し、皆さんに上市町を身近に感じてもらいたいです。
Although I currently hold photo exhibitions and set up displays outside of Toyama Prefecture as well, I consider Kamichi Town in Toyama Prefecture to be my home base, no matter where I am.
Going forward, I hope to hold solo and group photo exhibitions in regional areas of Japan and other places outside of Tokyo, so that everyone can feel a closer connection to Kamichi Town.
Q. 行ってみたい・撮ってみたい地方はどこですか？
Which region would you like to visit or photograph?
A. 大阪府です。大阪で個展をすることが目標です。
都会の人だからこそ、生活のつらさがあると思うので、それを富山県の自然の写真で癒してもらいたいです。
また、大阪の方が良く自分のSNSを見てくれているのも、行きたい理由の一つです。
オーストラリアの方もSNSをよく見てくれていて、オーストラリアにも行こうと考えています。
It’s Osaka Prefecture. My goal is to hold a solo exhibition in Osaka.
I believe that people living in big cities often face the hardships of daily life, so I hope my photographs of Toyama Prefecture’s natural landscapes will offer them some solace.
Another reason I want to go is that people in Osaka frequently view my social media posts.
People in Australia also follow my social media closely, so I’m considering holding an exhibition there as well.
