フレイヤの部屋ではこれまで夏に向けカラフルで遊び心のある、ささやかなおもちゃ等を制作してきました。凧やうちわ、お面等は自由でワクワクするような夏の気分を表してくれる様に感じています。
Over the next three months I particularly want to emphasise the other-worldly magic of Shakespeare’s play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in my classes. We’ll be putting up my shadow puppet theatre and in our summer workshops making puppets based on the characters in the play. The children will enact this play and their own stories on our deck in the Courtyard. Coming from England, the tradition of watching this play outside on a warm, midsummer evening brings back wonderful memories and I want to help make these memories with the children who join my classes and workshops this season.
この先3か月のフレイヤの部屋ではシェイクスピアの戯曲「真夏の夜の夢」の幻想的な世界に注目したいと思います。影絵用の劇場を建て、夏のワークショップでは戯曲に登場するキャラクターをモチーフにした影絵用人形を制作いたします。子供たちはこのシェイクスピアの戯曲に加え、自分たちで想像したお話をコートヤードHIROO屋外デッキスペースで上演する予定です。
イギリスから来た私にとって「真夏の夜の夢」という戯曲を正に真夏の夜、屋外の温かい空気の中で観劇するという母国の慣習は素敵な記憶を呼び起こしてくれるものです。ぜひフレイヤの部屋やワークショップに参加してくれる子供たちにも同じ体験をしてもらうお手伝いが出来れば、と思っています。
