コートヤードHIROOを運営する株式会社アトムは、若手のドイツ人作家 パウル・グラスルによるアーティスト・イン・レジデンスを東京・コートヤードHIROOと富山県・滑川市の2ヶ所にて開催いたします。パウルは、2024年の東京藝術大学交換留学時より、空き家の調査と描画を行う「空き家プロジェクト」を展開。空き家を単なる遺構ではなく、過去と現代を接続する媒体として再定義し、シルクスクリーンや壁画へと昇華させています。現在も日本の都市部および地方におけるリサーチを深め、独自の視点で研究を続けています。
Courtyard HIROO (operated by A-TOM Co., LTD.) will host an artist-in-residence program featuring young German artist Paul Grassl at two locations: Courtyard HIROO in Tokyo and Namerikawa City in Toyama Prefecture. Since his exchange program at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2024, Paul has pursued his “Akiya Project” researching and drawing abandoned properties. He redefines these structures not merely as ruins, but as medium connecting past and present, transforming them into silk-screen prints and murals. He continues deepening his research in both urban and rural Japan, advancing his unique perspective.

3月の滑川市でのAIRでは、リサーチを軸とし、「空き家」をテーマとしたプログラムを開催いたします。作家には、日常から離れた環境で自身の表現と向き合い、富山の文化を学びながら新たな挑戦に取り組んでいただきます。今回は滑川市、「なめりかわ建物フェス」実行委員会の協力を得て、市内に残る歴史的建造物や空き家の調査を実施。調査の結果を元に作品を制作し、なめりかわ建物フェス会場内での発表を予定しています。地域住民との交流を通じて、文化的視野の拡大や地域活性化、次世代の創造力育成を目指してまいります。
The March AIR program in Namerikawa City will center on research and feature a program themed around “vacant houses.” Artist will engage with his own expression in an environment removed from daily life, learning about Toyama’s culture while taking on new challenges. This time, with the cooperation of the Namerikawa City “Namerikawa Building Festival” Executive Committee, the artist will do surveys of historical buildings and vacant houses remaining in the city. Based on the survey results, he will create works scheduled for presentation within the Namerikawa Building Festival venue. Through interaction with local residents, we aim to broaden cultural horizons, revitalize the region, and nurture the creativity of the next generation.
