今、私たちはこれまで経験したことのないような苦境に立たされています。子供達にはサポートや教育、そして喜びにあふれたエネルギッシュな様々な経験が必要ではないでしょうか。
この夏のフレイヤの部屋のプログラムでは美しいコートヤードHIROOを有効活用し、空気や水、重力の性質を学ぶことが出来るような動きのある制作物に取り組む予定です。 遊びを通して学ぶことはとても大切です。屋内で長い自粛の時間を過ごしている私たち全員に心の安らぎをもたらしてくれることと思います。
プログラムの具体的な内容としては、コーンシロップと石鹸で出来るだけ大きなシャボン玉を作れるか挑戦してみたり、重力の実験として様々な形の制作物を作って飛ばしてみたりベランダから落としみようと思っています。航空機の多くは自然界に存在する形がベースになっているのです。例えば飛行機の翼部分は鳥の羽根や魚のヒレをモデルにデザインされているし、プロペラは楓の種子がベースになっています。
私たちが現在直面しているこの危機的状況は苦しいものですが、本当に大切なことは何かを私たちが気づきそれに感謝する機会をあたえてくれているとも言えます。私にとって今回の経験は自然への感謝の念をより一層抱かせてくれるものとなりました。単にお庭を歩くだけでこんなにも見るものがたくさんあって、発見もたくさんあるなんて！家で仕事や勉強をする合間に外に出てお日さまの光を浴びるのは素晴らしい息抜きになるでしょう。
この夏は実験や発見や冒険に満ち溢れた楽しい時間を皆さんと一緒に過ごせますように。ぜひお待ちしております。
First of all, I’d like to say that I hope you all are well. These are difficult times and more so than ever, I understand that children need support, education and as much as possible, a variety of experiences that are joyful and energetic.
This summer in Freyja no Heya I want to take full advantage of our beautiful courtyard. Learning through play is important and will be a relief after spending so much time indoors for all of us. I want to make objects that explore the nature of air, water and gravity and behave in strange ways. Some examples of this will be trying to make the biggest bubbles we can from corn syrup and soap. Experimenting with gravity by making different shaped objects to throw through the air or drop from our balconies. Many flying aircrafts are based on shapes in nature like airplane wings modelled on the bird wings and fish fins or helicopter propellers based on sycamore seeds.
At times of crisis it can offer us an opportunity to appreciate what is important. For me this has meant a much greater appreciation of nature and how a simple walk around a garden can offer so many things to look at and explore. As well as this, the sunshine on us while we play and make things will be a welcome break from all of the working and studying at home. I hope you will all be able to join us so we can enjoy a fun and productive summer full f discoveries, adventures and experiments!
